How is everyone doing? If you can tell by the title of this post today is Saba Day and it is one of the few reasons to celebrate today. And my way of celebrating my island’s day is doing what I do best and that is, of course, writing poetry.
How are you all? I usually do not post on Saturdays but here I am! Though it may be a bit short notice I wanted to let you, my lovely followers, know that on Sunday (which is tomorrow) I will be doing a short spoken word at Rooms Hostel along with other singers from a singing school called Vocalsz. How are you this fine Friday afternoon? I think I may be getting another cold going by my runny nose, slightly irritated throat and constant sneezing. I did not get over my last cold barely even a week ago. How disappointing that I may end up getting it again…
Anyway, as I wrote on my last blog post on Monday, I had my spoken word performance on Wednesday evening. It seems to have gone pretty well when I think back on the crowd’s reaction to my performance. If you are interested in watching the live videos I had posted you can always go to my Angie’s Inspiration page on Facebook and check them out. I intend to make a mini video of my day leading up to the event and parts of the event itself if I get the chance to do so.
I may not be some genius poet of the sort but I try my best in all that I do. I look up despite my failures, nervousness and being (considered) not good enough. I refuse to remain staring down at my feet because of my insecurities. For how will I know what may or may not lie ahead if I am always staring down?
Anyway, the poem below expresses exactly how I feel and in just a few words. I hope you enjoy it and I will see you all next time. Take care and have a great day everyone!
How are you all? Today’s post I am going to talk about how I was invited by my singer-songwriter friend, Vangelis Sopamena, for the viewing of his new music video ‘Voor Ons’. The viewing was held on Thursday evening in Rotterdam at a cosy gay bar called the FERRY. The starting time of the event had begun at 8 pm, however, due to me being a little late I was unable to see the spoken word opening act to which I regret considering I am also a poet and a writer. Today’s post will be very brief if I do say so myself since I do not have much to say about myself this blessed Monday evening. Continue reading
Hey, folks. Though today’s post is short I thought it would be nice to talk about treating yourself well and by making yourself number one in your life.
Too often people assume and hope that someone else is going to or will make them happy, treat them well and make them their number one. In reality, that kind of thing seldom happens. Most humans think about themselves first before the thought of someone else crosses their mind. Humans can be very selfish and that is okay as long as you are not endangering someone’s life (or ruining it).
So for those of you waiting for someone to make you their number one and treat you the way you want to be treated, try treating yourself in that manner. Believe that you are number one and others will treat you in kind. If you treat yourself like a second fiddle then others will treat you the same way. How can you expect someone to treat you as their number one when you do not do so for yourself? Well, that is just my two cents anyway. Live your life well and I will see you all for my next blog post. Take care. 🙂
